As anticipation continues to build around the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide Southwest, COURSE Restaurant was recently recognized by two of Arizona’s most respected food writers as a leading contender for inclusion in the inaugural guide.

In a feature published by Fabulous Arizona, award-winning writers Christina Barrueta and Alison Bailin Batz shared their predictions for Arizona restaurants they believe deserve consideration as Michelin begins evaluating restaurants across Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Among the restaurants selected by both writers was COURSE Restaurant.

Christina Barrueta highlighted Executive Chef Cory Oppold’s creativity and relentless pursuit of improvement, noting:

She also pointed to the ever-evolving nature of the dining experience at COURSE, recognizing the creative energy that continues to drive the restaurant forward.

Award-winning food writer Alison Bailin Batz also selected COURSE, praising Chef Cory’s unique ability to balance creativity, storytelling, technique, and seasonality throughout the tasting menu experience. She highlighted the restaurant’s commitment to showcasing Arizona ingredients while transforming them through innovation, adventure, and thoughtful execution.

The article also recognized the beverage program, noting the creativity and personality that have become signatures of the cocktail experience at COURSE. Led by Beverage Director Justin Chard, the cocktail menu continues to evolve alongside the culinary program, creating an immersive dining experience where food and beverage are equally important parts of the story.
